If What We Ate Was Everything.

What I am craving will always depend on what I am consuming. ( from Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst)

If only this whole thing was an “issue with food”.  If only.  What is it they say, “seeing your problem is half the battle?”  Oh yeah.  And then some.

When I chew on the quote above  (you see what I did there? ) my Takeaway is simple.  In the end, I can only really consume Him.  That is the end game. I have to eat to live but nothing I put in my mouth will satisfy. No physical or material desires of this world, or the desire to have lots or be significant will make things right.  There will always be a hole ~ a craving ~ until I get this through my brain and into my heart and soul. I can write this and believe it, and even as I do, how do I embrace it for real and always?

This is a spiritual relationship issue.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.  Where do I go from here?

Everything is permissible. Not everything is beneficial. 1 Corinthians 10:23

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in her. For everything in the world – the cravings of physical desires like food, the lust of all I see around me, the boasting and pride in what I do and have – comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:15-16

How lovely is your dwelling place O LORD Almighty! My Soul yearns, even faints For YOU. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Happy are those who live in your house always singing your praises. Happy are those whose strength is in you. Psalm 84

As a deer pants for flowing streams so my souls longs foe you. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Why are you cast down o my soul? Hope in God. Praise Him, the One who helps, the One whom is my One and Only Craving. Psalm 42

Listen, all who thirst! Come to the waters. Even if you have nothing to give, come sand eat. Don’t spend money and energy on stuff that doesn’t fill you up. Don’t work for stuff that doesn’t satisfy. Listen carefully. Eat what is good. And listen to me, so you can live. Seek the Lord while he may be found call on Him while He is near. Isaiah 55 (there’s more! Read the whole thing!)

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness! They will be filled! Matthew 5:6

Finally, dearly loved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

Lord, Help Me.
